A day at the Polo

Bright and early Mothers Day Sunday, fresh as a daisy due to sober Saturday night out before. I know right? Sober. Say it out loud and let it hang in the air for a moment. Feels strange, right? There is a decent explanation, I promise you.

My family and I were invited to attend the Polo presented by Jeep. Held in the regal Polo fields of Richmond, there was no room for a hangover in the schedule. As rolling paddocks replaced the cityscape on the drive out, I knew I'd made the right choice.

Masterchef & Cleo Bachelor Hayden Quinn cooked us up a storm with his mother as we relaxed in the Jeep marquee and I tried to keep an eye on my six siblings who decided the fairy-floss held a higher priority than the gourmet cuisine on offer. I did get a slight headache trying to choose where my focus was directed - the Polo match itself or the brand new Jeep vehicles displayed on the grounds?

It was the perfect way to celebrate the most wonderful women in the world (our mothers) and I for one was delighted to meet the many siblings and parents of the social set.

+++SIMON SAYS: Simply? Lush.
+++BITCH TIP: If anyone notices one of the lush new Jeep range missing I have no idea about anything and I wasn't even there so stop asking me.

Cleo Bachelor of the Year

50 of the nations most eligible bachelors? Check.
An open bar and delicious canapes? Check.
Hangover the next morning?
CHECK.

Last week I attended the annual Cleo Bachelor of the Year awards with my ANTM girls (Montanna Cox, Simone Holtznagel, Jess Bush and Caroline Austin), MTV superstar Ruby Rose and All About Edie fashion blogger Mollie Stevens...to name a few. The star studded event was hosted by the one and only Marquee at The Star.

I was wearing mens label Herringbone for the evening and I am now an official convert to the high fashion tailoring this label boasts. Gents - check them out here...you'll thank me. Suit up!

Hayden Quinn took out the crown, with runner up Nathan Jolliffe causing a few chuckles in the crowd when he thanked his ex Erin McNaught for the opportunity to take the stage as a bachelor. Thankfully Erin and Nathan do remain very good friends so it was all in jest.

+++SIMON SAYS: Despite the pouring rain, a great time was had by all.
+++BITCH TIP: Ricki Lee is literally one third of her former self...and the girl looks amaze.

Le Grande Opening of Marquee at The Star

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past week (which would concern me because that’s no living condition for a human), you would have heard that Marquee has opened its doors at The Star right here in Sydney.

I am aiding said venue with their PR, Events and Promotions -  a role I am extremely excited about.

Our international and local identities who attended opening night included Paris Hilton, Joe Jonas, Ashlee Simpson, LMFAO, Isabel Lucas, Ricki Lee, Erin McNaught, Slash and many, many more...

With a mixture of open and closed door party areas, A list entertainment every week and a small army of hosts and management whose combined experience in the nightlife industry rivals any other group worldwide, Marquee will become a destination with a difference in our harbou city. The world-class features of this venue outshine any other hot spot I have experienced…can you tell I’m stoked about this opportunity?

Check out some shots from opening night below…

+++ BITCH TIP: Highlight of the opening night was getting schooled in some dance moves by the one and only Paris Hilton, and casually chatting to Twilight hunk Kellan Lutz about his future movie projects – ladies, that boy’s got serious game.

Aje A/W 12

My dear friend Adrian Norris is amazeballs at life, and also owns luxury fashion label Aje with his gorgeous partner in crime Eddi. I recently caught up with him to discuss his new A/W 12 range...

- Aje has been embraced on stars and socialites worldwide, including Kate Moss and Kim Kardashian, but how would you describe the typical Aje girl?

"Aje Girls are cool, Chic and understand luxury. They usually seek out Aje pieces due to their unique quality and style."

- Aje pieces are always created with the most incredible variation of textured materials - where do source them from?

Both Eddi and myself are obsessed with sourcing incredible natural materials, as well as artisans who can manipulate them to create something truly unique, special and also modern. We work with products from all over the world, sourcing products which suit our ideals and designs of the moment.

- I hear Aje will be featuring their new range for the very first time at this years Mercedes Benz Australian Fashion Week...true?

This is True - we have been around for a while a felt that the time was right to bring our designs to the big stage ;)

- Can you give Simon Says readers a few hints/inspirations behind the upcoming show?

Hmmmmm that's the million dollar question - The collection is titled "The Shipwrecked Ball' if that gives you any clues....

- Aside from your flagship Potts Point store, where can Aje be found?

Check out our website for a list of stocklists or hit us up on Facebook.

AUSTRALIAN WALK OF STYLE

Dusk settles over a charismatic and energetic collection of Sydney's fashion elite as waiters serve chilled champagne and Absolut vodka cranberry cocktails on the red carpet...

This was the scene at the unveiling of The Australian Walk Of Style last night along the fashion strip otherwise known as The Intersection Paddington. The first five local designers that were chosen to be immortalized in bronze plaques were  Collette DinniganR.M. WilliamsMark KeigheryAkira Isogawa and Sass & Bide.

PR Queen Roxy Jacenko (supported by her bevy of Sweaty Betty girls) nailed it once again, with the  creme da la creme of the social set invited to congregate along the strip. Polaroids were snapped and given to guests as memoirs of the night, a token but perfect touch.

Guests included Erin McNaught, Nikki Phillips, Donny Galella, Melissa Hoyer, Michelle Bridges and many, many more.

I had a wonderful time chatting with local designers, stylists and personalities whilst suporting this pioneering concept. It was amazing to witness Australian talent being celebrated - we have incredible creatives in this country and I personally believe they are overlooked all too often. I was proud to be a part of a project that accolades Australians who have found success whilst pursuing their passion.

+++ SIMON SAYS: An all out A class event.

+++ BITCH TIP: Some of the younger guests were clearly unaware the event was all outdoors and got a little over eager in their bronzing efforts...

Rihanna + Chris Brown = Reunited

The cat is out of the bag – the reunion of Rihanna and Chris Brow has been immortalised via a music upload.

In a move that has been whispered about (but generally dismissed as a rumour) over the last few weeks, both artists dropped the bomb on Monday – which also happened to be Rihanna’s birthday. Hardly a coincidence.

Brown is featured on Rihanna’s new track Birthday Cake, whilst Rihanna lends her vocals on Browns freshly remixed hit Turn Up The Music.

Amazing PR ploy or a terrible decision by role model Rihanna? That, my friends, is a matter of opinion.

After that attack three years ago that left Rihanna bruised and battered after an argument with Brown, many argue that a collaboration encourages victims of domestic violence to return to their aggressive lovers. Domestic violence is never acceptable; a fact we are all aware of.

Then again, I personally believe that forgiveness is key in moving forward from any traumatic experience, so perhaps the reunion is the ultimate olive branch in melodic form? I was lucky to see both Rihanna and Chris live when they toured Australia circa 2009, and their musical compatibility/onstage chemistry is undeniable...dare we condone this pair teaming up once more?

Either way – the tracks are sublime, and this entire situation has the world talking.

Well played, respective publicists. Well played.

Secret Summer Series # 1 - The House Party

That's right kids - I'm back.

After an extremely busy few months that included Christmas and...well, really just Christmas, and a month or so off to recover from the amount I had to drink on Christmas Day to deal with my family...I have returned! *Cue applause* Oh, stop! You're too kind.

Last week marked a very exciting event for me - the first of three installments of my new concept, The Secret Summer Series. After throwing a guerrilla beach party in Byron for New Years Eve (that involved guests receiving the location details a mere few hours before the event via SMS), I was inspired to return to Sydney and launch a series that focused on providing a fresh angle to the tried-and-tested nightclub culture. Enter The Secret Summer Series.

#1 - The House Party
#2 - The Boat Party
#3 - The Beach Party

Carefully selected invitees received a time and place to meet and were then transported to an undisclosed location, the first being a gorgeous mansion on Australia Day. Sponsored by Redbull and supported by boss-man Poata Okeroa and luxury venue 21, we spent the national day of celebration sipping cocktails, diving into the pool and dancing under disco lights in the basement bar. Afterwards, we were whisked back to 21 to kick on for the official after party...

The response to the series has been more than overwhelming, and huge plans are already underway for the second installment. Here's to all of us owning 2012, yes? YES.

xx
